Every year in St. Wolstans, the TY groups do a mini company project. Mini company gives you the chance to have an insight into the world of sales and business. Basically, what you do is you get into groups in your classes and simply brainstorm ideas. Your goal is to come up with a product or service that is new, innovative and classy. Harder than you may think it is!
So basically, my group consists of Aoife Byrne, Lauren Beale, Niamh O'Halloran, Laura Fitzsimon, Amy Byrne & Lauren McDonald. Best team yet (Y) After days and days of brainstorming we came up with the idea to do candy trees. We distributed jobs amongst every team member and came up with the name 'Candy Blossom'.
So far our sales are going through the roof. The Candy Blossom team work very hard almost every day to fulfill the customers needs. Making a candy tree is VERY, labour intensive. there are lots of products involved in making a candy tree and therefore they must be bought before hand.. All over the place! We gm to places like Ikea, Inspiring ideas, Tesco, Aldi, florist shops and wholesalers! Firstly, we make a mix of plaster of paris (which takes a while) and then set it into the pots with a wooden dowel in the middle. They are then left to set for 24 hrs. We then must decide who's house we'll go to to make our product :) Using cocktail sticks, polystyrene balls, LOTS of ribbon (we're talking metres here), cellophane and of course the sweets, we make our trees :) I think everyone in the group absolutely enjoy every bit of making our trees, as we are all great friends :) Just means that we might need to order the odd Domino's every now and then, or even a Chinese. Not even joking!
So If you were interested in ordering a tree, asking a few ceisteanna, or simply anything you want to know about us or our candy trees, you can:
